  2. BowTies_BearPaws | | #2

I've been quilting for 7 years or so.
I love my triple bear paw quilt. It's the only one I didn't give away!

  3. colhel | | #3

I have been quilting since the early 80's. I particularly love rag quilts, t-shirt quilts and any quilts that re-use materials.

  4. Marthamm | | #4

I have been quilting for 2 years, but have sewn for many years.
I am currently working on a cathedral quilt pillow and enjoy taking classes and learning new techniques.
As a new grandparent I am making a quilt for each new grandchild.

  5. Kpossible | | #5

I JUST started quilting. I don't have a sewing machine yet so it's all been patchwork by hand. I love all the modern fabrics in classic quilts I've been seeing lately!

  6. Nitewindz | | #6

I am brand new to quilting. While cleaning out a closet I found a pillowcase full of quilt squares hand embroidered by my Grandmother, who passed away 20 years ago. My ultimate goal in learning to quilt is to eventually be able to preserve those squares in a quilt, so they can be seen and appreciated instead. I know I have a lot of practice quilts ahead of me before I reach that point!

For a quilting junkie, this is heaven. I enjoy reading quilting books almost as much as making them.

  8. Carly_Sue | | #8

I love making quilted clothing art. I have never made a whole pieced quilt but I do love the one I have of my grandmother's made at least 100 years ago. It would be fun to win your books. thanks, Threads, for all that you do or we sewists.

  11. jennieMB | | #11

I'm recent to quilting, just the small stuff. I love the image with "Award winning quilts", and I'd love to see more ideas for non-blanket quilting.

  12. kittyklaws65 | | #12

I've only worked on 1 quilt and it's for my MIL. We lost my FIL 2 years ago and she's continued sewing despite the loss. She's been my inspiration to learn this wonderful art form. I love sewing garments and so I've loved learning the quilting process. I did manage to make a bed runner. So far not falling apart, so I guess I did good! LOL Thanks for the giveaway. Someone will have a lot of fun with this wonderful bundle!

  13. DianaHML | | #13

I've only done a few things so far, but I have two quilts planned for my kids to take to college. My daughter's is cut out and I still need to purchase the fabric for my son's.

I've been quilting for 5 years now. I'm really pleased with the Vintage Rouge quilt I finished this past Spring, it won first place at our County Fair. Thanks for the giveaway, great items.

  20. phyllisincanada | | #20

I made a bargello quilt for my best friend's daughter & her husband as a wedding present. The colors and the quilting were reminiscent of ocean waves since the happy couple was very fond of spending time on Block Island.

I forgot to say I have been quilting for around 20 years!

Ten years of quilting, and I'm still looking for my favorite quilt - but I've enjoyed making quilts with just a little bit of a third dimension: flying pennants on sailboats were the first.

  23. sread | | #23

I'm just learning to quilt but I've been building my stash for many years! Favorite quilts are the ones I grew up with, made by my great-grandmother and great-aunts.

  24. CeciliaY | | #24

I've been quilting for 6 years now. I first started out hand piecing and quilting. My first quilt was made for a future first grandchild. I designed the quilt and it took me 3 months to make. It is still my favorite quilt. Thanks for the chance to win.

  25. LeandaM | | #25

I have been gradually learning more about quilting as I have made bedcovers for my children and now am going to finally do one for myself. One of the quilts I used seminole patchwork and I just loved the look. I am only self taught however and know that I have an awful lot to learn. Thanks so much for the chance to win these books. Imagine what sort of Christmas present this would be for the lucky person??? Just amazing!

I've been quilting for 5 years, a wonderful tradition passed on to me from my Mum and Grandmothers.

  27. katie | | #27

I have made quilted wall hangings for several years now. I aspire to make some full size quilts!

  28. melbansocal | | #28

My 1st quilt was for my granddaughter who turned 31 this year and many baby quilts for friends since...I never counted myself as a quilter but a friend said they make me a quilter. I have done a couple of big quilts but I really like lap & baby quilts the best.

  29. BGeigle | | #29

I started sewing when I was 21 and started quilting by age 24. I am now 64. My favorite quilt is the one I just finished..found at Blog: http://bob-stufftoponder.blogspot.com. My biggest joy about retiring is that I spend several hours a week sewing and planning for new quilts, etc. I have three baby quilts to do in the next few months, and the ideas out there..just leaves no time to wither up and die.. Actually, I will probably be at my sewing machine when I kick the bucket and a ghost whisperer will have to be called in to tell me to quit sewing..

  30. 21Lisa | | #30

Took some quilting classes 9 years ago. Then went back to school, had a baby, and started a new career. So unfortunately learning to quilt was put on hold. Now retaking some classes and daughter is old enough to be careful around sewing machine and projects. So I would say am pretty new to sewing, but have had many years of appreciating other quilters beautiful pieces.

  31. Janeen | | #31

The first quilt I made was for a workmates new baby, she had lost her mother to cancer and was a great fan of Beatrix Potter. Harrison's quilt was a surprise for her and he still loves it five years later. I spend hours looking at books and one line imagining what I will make next. Being in my sewing room at the machine is "my happy place" I am inspired to make a crazy quilt.

  32. user-5430734 | | #32

I started buying velvet to make my first quilt in 1970. I finished it 1981. It was beautiful. It had reds, greens, blacks, panne velvet, patterned velvet, golds. It was 10 years in the making and the day I finished it, I laid down for a nap and my dog was napping with me. Well, the dog chewed holes all throughout the quilt before I woke up. I was so upset, but I could not blame my dog. I wish I had taken a photograph. I would love to make a quilt with black satin with white appliqued crescent moons. That would look gorgeous!

  33. pippirose | | #33

I've been quilting for about 2 years, but sewing for over 40 years. The quilt I love the most is my first one--a Prairie Star.

  34. pandagerl | | #34

I've only been quilting for about 3 years. The best I've done so far was a themed wall hanging, "Sparkle Bugs." It had bug in jars, bejeweled and covered with clear plastic.

  35. WowILikeThat | | #35

I've been quilting for about 6 months. I have lots to learn yet but I love that I learn something new everyday and have already finished 6 quilts.

  36. azure00 | | #36

I am new to quilting, just started in the last month. Have been looking for ideas of quilt patterns I like!

  37. DrivesSewMachBest | | #37

I've been quilting for better than 14 years now. I have made oodles of Irish Chain laptops which I gave away as gifts and just for the "heck of it".
Then I moved on to quilted totes and a Rail Fence Queen for my daughter's 16th birthday. Another queen for my husband for our 8th Anniversary which I hand-quilted. Made a Queen for my mom which she hated and wouldn't use, so years later I relieved her of it and one just like it for my mo-in-law. She was thrilled to receive such a loving gift.
When I hit 50, I had some "TIA's" which affected my language and math skills. After a bout 3 months, I went into my sewing room and decided to figure out how to unravel the directions for making a "Trip around the World" quilt. One intrigue is that I hate large blocks and so in making a king sized quilt, with my measurements required 12 blocks with sashing to distinguish each block.
Many potholders, log cabin, flying geese, Quilt Guild (including "Ugly fabric" challenge wall-hanging) and many other endeavors spurned on by the Guild and paper pieced turned into Foundation Pieced (Saves on needle wear and picking out paper pieces and stabilizes work.)
My latest projects (2) involve resurrecting 2 antique quilt tops, finishing them off to period standard and returning them to the owner.
Along the way, I have taught my daughter how to quilt, 1st by foundation piecing and then with the normal 1/4 inch seam. (She has taught others the foundation piecing method. An Aside: She has Down Syndrome, was taught at home most of her schooling years.)

I love Threads, I love searching for new ideas and now that I am beginning to sew again, and quilt, I came across this offer. How wonderful to know that I can come on a regular basis, learn and see what others have to offer. It would be a great joy to win - congratulations to the winner! Thank you.
ps: I am reviewing a Threads magazine from the year 2000, they never go out of style!
