SewStylish Fall Fashion Challenge 2013

Carrie’s Not Reversible Coat

I constructed this coat using sueded cuddle cloth.  I deconstructed McCall’s pattern 9576 in such a way that I was able to construct the coat by primarily using topstitching on all the pieces – with the exception of the side and shoulder seams – to form the body of the coat.  After topstitching,  I cut the “seam allowances” close to each seam.  This process all but eliminated shedding.

This pattern was designed to be a reversible coat – but alas, who needs reversible when this warm blanket-like fabric can be worn close to the body for added warmth!

I love the creativity of the stitch concept as well as color blocking you used in the front and the bock. Definitely "en vogue" for the season!
