Challenging myself by making patterns with unusual construction is what I love. I look for things I love, but can’t afford, i try to figure out what would be the best and unusual way to construct it and then come up with my own pattern. Muslin after muslin until it fits just right. This dress was made of silk and wool blend light gray summer fabric. The contrast white skirt is of performance polyester knit jersey. The lining is silk habutai. Finished off with a white grosgrain belt. If observed closely, the sleeves are not set in, but instead are a continuous extension of each pattern piece. Where the underpit section is cut on bias for the ease of movement. I wore this dress to a formal tennis event. it was partly inspired by tennis apparel and partly by one of my favorite designers, who’s items I could never afford.

I too love copying things I can't afford. It is very satisfying.
