Imagine the sourthern hemisphere is in full flight with snow falling on the mountains only 50 minutes away. Yet, you have to get on publich transport, dash from the bus stop to the office building and still want to be stylish and toasty. 🙂 What do you do? Confine yourself to the usual knitted beanie or floppy ribbed hat? No… take your winter style up a notch by taking a leaf out of early 20th century military uniform accessories and copy a Russian Cossack Hat. I made mine out of faux fur, silk and the secret weapon thinsulate wadding. By quilting Thinsulate wadding to the silk lining you get a very warm and beautiful hat lining. Thinsualte wadding is usually found in ski clothing to add a layer of insulation to your cold weather clothing. When sewing with faux fur there is extra ease allowed in the pattern so this will also accomodate the quilted lining as well as giving you a comfy fit.
