SewStylish Fall Fashion Challenge 2014

Mother of the Bride Dress- DIY!!!

Mother of the Bride dress. Formal gown using champagne sequin stretchy material. Bias cut front and back, invisible zipper, and tucked shoulder and waist line with a chiffon bustle in back slit.

Wtih my daughter getting married I decided to use my sewing skills and make myself a gown. I took the Butterick B5675 pattern and a stretchy sequin fabric I found in center city Philadelphia fabric shop. I was amazed at the first fitting how good it was coming out as I’ve never made such a formal gown before. I altered the design slightly by taking off the waistline side flower. I added lining because the material was a little scratchy. In order that the back slit would not be so revealing I added I very full softly pleaded bustle, that added so much class to the dress.
