Joe wanted to be an elephant for Halloween. Plus this costume is great for play dates and offers lots of opportunities for pretend! Starting with a McCalls pattern and working from a photo that mother & son had found, I modified the pattern to match the photo which included altering the shape of the ears and using a lighter fabric for the inside of the ear. Remembering how my grandmother would stuff her elephants with left over fabric and old nylon stockings, the trunk is stuffed with scraps of fleece left over from cutting.
