Halloween Costume Contest 2014

Renaissance gown

Front

Using Butterick 4571, I constructed a Renaissance gown for the daughter of a family friend. A lovely red panne, matching lining, floral brocade contrast and matching trim was used to construct it. The gown was made as instructed except for the closure at back. Twelve large hooks and eyes were installed by hand on the back panels instead of using grommets, with a narrow trim running down the length to disguise the stitches. It turned out to be a beautiful gown for a lovely young girl.
