Tape Protects Ruler

When I use rulers to copy patterns my fine-tip markers leave ink on the edge of the ruler that I then have to clean with alcohol and a cotton swab. I discovered that if I place a piece of 3M matte-finish removable tape along the ruler's edge, I can remove the tape when I'm finished and it will take the ink marks with it! It comes off easily and doesn't leave a sticky residue.
