How to Fix Fit with Tucks

Threads magazine - 177 - Feb./Mar. 2015

This article from Threads #177 (February/March 2015) by Sandra Miller will have your garments fitting better than ever in no time.

Every once in a while, the first wearing of a new garment reveals style issues I didn’t notice in my initial enthusiasm. Maybe the sleeves are too long, or the waist is not as defined as I’d like, or the legs are wider than I anticipated. I’ve discovered that a few tucks in strategic locations can transform a garment, turning a loose, casual fit into a more complimentary one and providing design interest. Tuck placement, number, and width dictate the overall impression of the result: heirloom or modern. For further detail, elements such as buttons can be added so the tucks look like an intentional design element, rather than a quick fix.
