Third time co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler kicked off the 72nd Golden Globes Award Show in the comedic fashion that they are so well known for. This was their third time hosting and they started the show with lots of laughs, teasing various actors and actresses, and even going as far as cracking jokes about North Korea's threat if Sony released the movie The Interview. Huge winners of the night included Birdman, Fargo, and, with 3 Golden Globes including the biggest award of the night for Best Motion Picture Drama, Boyhood.

I realize that many of our readers may never make a gown like the one worn by Jennifer Lopez (one of the most talked about looks of the night for its revealing and sexy silhouette), but awards shows are a great way to see what is trending with silhouettes, colors, and embellishments. Here's a recap of this year's Golden Globe fashions to help inspire you with your future sewing adventures.

TAKE THE PLUNGE OR GO ONE SHOULDER
One of the most recurring silhouette trends was the deeply plunging neckline. Stars like Kate Hudson, Sienna Miller (American Sniper, Foxcatcher), Jessica Chastain, and Jennifer Lopez (as seen above) tested the daring look. Although the style can be too revealing or considered scandalous for some, you can attempt this look with a little more stability and coverage by using a piece of mesh to hold the dress in place.

Another popular silhouette that appeared at the 2015 Golden Globes was a one-shoulder gown. Stars like Amy Adams, Heidi Klum (seen on next page), and Amal Alamuddin wore this classy look. An interesting thing to note is the strap was on all of their left shoulders. These ladies all looked beautiful but I personally believe this unbalanced look has been used too much and is starting to get outdated.
