When my son was little and Pokemon was all the rage - I made him a Charmander costume out of felt. May not have been the most interesting thing, but it was one of my first projects. i was a little over zealous for my first project! He loved it though.

I am not an expert sewer, but when I do something, it has to be dramatic I guess. A piece to create a statement. When I was 20 and got into setting trends, I started sewing some over-pants skirts, kind of what natives wear in tribes, but that would go over the pants. My pants were usually plain navy blue or black, so I tried to make patterns that would match my pants, just not to look the same as everyone else, and would always create 80's style gloves or arm warmers that would match my over-pants skirts. However, I think that my most interesting project were my wedding wings. After watching the movie "Everlasting" I just wanted to wear wings for my wedding, however, where to buy them? So my brother gave me some huge butterfly wings for my birthday the year before, and I ripped the fabric they had and used those frames. I used beautiful ivory organza as the base, and used a beautiful lace applique to make the details of the wings. I used the same lace appliques on my wedding dress so that both the wings and the dress matched. I do confess that I had to dye the applique with coffee, because they were white and the rest of the dress and wings were ivory, so it all worked out fine at the end. I guess that has been a very unique project that I have made. Now at days, all my plans are revolving around creating hats, gloves, and baby diapers, lol.

I meant seamstress, what a dork, lol. I did not mean sewer... This is what happens when you are half asleep, lol, then I guess I might be a sewer after all at the moment because I have not taken a shower yet this morning, bahahaha. Too bad comments can't be edited, so sorry for that, but at least we (or just me)had a good stinky laugh.

One of the most challenging projects was "The Two Hour Tulip Bag"...a purse, in 3 sizes. Simple right? No, not when you decide to sew it in a thick vinyl, and make the smallest size. Instead of two hours, it turned out to be my "Two WEEK Tulip Bag". It was cute, but way too small, and I had to buy rivets and a rivet tool for the handles as my very strong machine just did not want to sew through 8 or 10 1ayers of vinyl for the straps. The end result was cute, VERY CUTE, and I gave it to the daughter of a co-worker...she loves it!

I have made a lot of prom, bridal and evening dresses but the most fun I had was making my son's halloween costumes when he was little. I made a blue bunny copying his favorite stuffed animal and a astronaut complete with bubble head gear. I didn't have a pattern for these, it was more cut and go.

Years ago as a mom of four children I was on the look out for inexpensive Halloween costumes, and one had to be a princess. After snagging a new $1 pattern and scoring some inexpensive fabric, the costume still needed something. I found a wooden dowel for a wand and a gold garland with stars that hung from it. I fashioned the garland at the end of the wand in a sort of splayed manner. While it didn't look like much in daylight, it really seemed to twinkle once the street lights hit it after dark! Big hit! Score one for mom!

I wasn't sure I could do it, but I made a Snow White costume for Halloween for my daughter and it actually turned out very well. She wore it and enjoyed it for dress up throughout the year. That was certainly the most creative outfit I ever made.

In high school home economics I sewed an old fashioned white pinafore like those worn by girls at the end of the 19th century with ruffles all along the straps and up over the shoulders. It had hand embroidery on both patch pockets. It was my first go at ruffles and about drove me crazy. The embroidery was not a problem for me since I had already embroidered for several years prior to making the pinafore. I received an "A" on the project and that made learning how to sew ruffles worth all the frustration!

The most interesting thing that i have sewn, was a three foot tall zebra shaped pillow, that i made for my cousin's 3 birthday.

I recently upholstered an old chair - patchwork quilted seat and sewing themed embroidery panels for the front and back cushioned back panels - came out really nice!

I've redone my couch twice and both times, using different material, threads and finishes I've come up with great looking seats! Upholstery is something that is not something that is easy to embellish but I think that it's easier to do during the construction process, and thus opens a lot of creativity!

Long before there were patterns, I made belly dancing costumes. I did all the beading by hand, including the long bead fringe I loved (I never could find the colors I wanted in ready made beaded fringe). I used a circle skirt pattern, adding a couple extra panels for fullness and plenty of swirl. I've used lace and painted it with glitter to add sparkle. The skirts, bras, and belts took a lot of work, but they were worth it.

When I was a young girl my nana began showing me how to sew and quilt. We made a baby blanket for my sister who was on the way, and although it wasn't the most creative project, it was special to me.

The most interesting and creative thing I have ever sewn is a beautiful dress that my daughter designed.

The most unusual and creative things I've sewn were my daughter's Halloween costumes. I drafted and made her a pumpkin costume and hat when PBK sold out of theirs. It turned out exactly like theirs! Last year, I drafted and made her a penguin costume to go with my and my husband's costumes (I also made)- Mary Poppins and Bert in the chalk drawing. :)

A orange satin pantsuit back in high school. It was really well done for someone with only 1 sewing class.

One of the most interesting items I've sewn was an 'artichoke' for my daughter to wear in a calisthenics event. Followed very closely by a tree.
