I created the “Pink Bird” using an idea I had seen for other character costumes which consisted of a ’50s style circle skirt and pinafore for the face. The face is cut from felt, and the head “feathers” were created from scraps from the blouse fabric. The Blouse is Butterick B5047 (out of print Connie Crawford pattern). I drafted the circle skirt and pinafore shape myself. I used a square dance style petticoat to fluff up the skirt sufficiently.
