Halloween Costume Contest 2015

Ursala the Teacher

Ursala - concept to reality

I first designed the costume – considering my friends needs as a teacher of 2nd graders. She needed to move and bend and not get caught between desks. The outfit is a two-piece. I designed the skirt as an eight-gore paneled skirt and sewed on the satin and sequined triangle panels, with an elasticized waistband. To ensure you didn’t see the waistband, we added a belt to give it an edge! The fabric choices were the best. Oily feeling black spandex, nubby turquoise knit for the top and the sequined and foil knit for the tentacles.

She was a hit at school – and the kids did not mistake as to who she was!
