16th century Venetian Gown
comments (0) December 11th, 2008 in sewing, design, garment construction, reader's closetRecreation of 16 century venetian gown. Refered to various paintings of the time to find a plausible combination of bodice, skirt and sleeves. Eight yards of cinnamon "shantung" poly fabric. Bodice lined with wool, two layers of linen and plastic cable ties used as boning. Camicia (or undershirt) made of 100% linen with a black poly trim. Sleeves are lined with white linen, joined with glass pearls and edged with gold trim. Sleeves are attached with black elastic and gold colored buttons.
