McCall’s 7330

A stylish jumpsuit and romper pattern brims with dressmaker details. The core design consists of two pieces joined by an inset waistband that sits at the natural waist. The blouson bodice has either a band collar or a shirt collar with a stand; a self-lined yoke with a back pleat; a slight V-neck front opening with a button placket; a gathered waistline; and optional chest pockets. The pant has a tapered leg, mock fly zipper, gathered waistline, patch pocket options, and belt loops. Sleeve choices include: sleeveless, finished with a bias-strip facing; short with a narrow hem; or long two-piece sleeves with a slit opening, pleat, cuff, and a tab for securing the sleeves when rolled. There are two lengths in the romper view; the longer style has a button tab to secure a rolled-up hem. Our staff seamstress found that the instructions for the waistband were not illustrated properly. The band extends beyond the center-front opening on at least one side, but possibly both. However, when it is first illustrated being attached to the bodice, the ends are flush with the bodice at center front. Later, it’s illustrated as extended on the overlap side and then on the underlap side. Per pattern markings, it extends on both sides. Follow the markings and written instructions, rather than the illustrations, for steps 57 through 61. Select medium-weight fabrics such as twill, linen, corduroy, or cotton.

Sewing Tip: Check the bodice and pant pattern measurements. You might use one size for the top and another size for the bottom.
