This is a "One of Kind" Prom Dress!  From a Junior in High School invited to her first Prom.  She came to me with a picture of a designer dress and wanted it to look just like that dress, except with a few changes, of course!  We set out to find patterns, deciding on 3 different “commercial patterns” to create the design she wanted.  I got started designing and created the dress out of a white cotton fabric until the design and fit was perfect.  I used the cotton fabric dress as my pattern pieces to cut out the dress fabric.  At that point we were on a mission to find the fabric, selecting white satin and sheer for the skirt and for the bodice, which she wanted to be pink/ivory and white lace.  After an entire day of hunting for the perfect lace fabric, we stumbled across a remnant of $200 per yard, ivory/beige lace w/pink and white beaded pearls and sequins, and since it was a remnant of only 1 yard left, we were able to purchase it for $50.00.  What a discovery!  What I also discovered was that my sewing machine could not sew through all the lace, beads and sequins.  I learned real quick how to be creative in cutting out an entire bodice from 1 yard of  fabric and how to hand sew lace and zippers!  What a great experience I had and it’s inspired me to design more.  For the Junior going to her first Prom, the dress was a hit, she was the envy of the Prom wearing her own designer “One of a Kind” Prom Dress that all the girls adored!
