Halloween Costume Contest 2016

Steampunk Girl Robin Hood

Full length shot without hooded cape

So when I started this project I started with a drawing. It was an idea what I wanted it to look like in the end. I am a refashionista I like to refashion and change things so this project was totally me. So I went to Goodwill and got started. I started with buying a bunch of different shades of green (pillow cases, & skirts whatever I could find) I grabbed some Real leather pants and a small short dress for a starter point. I also got a creme colored skirt that was way to big. Bought it all and headed home. I started by making the corset I cut it out of the leather pants. Then put grommets in the back and laced ribbon through. I sewed some chains from a necklace I bought at a garage sale onto the front of the corset.  I also sewed a decorative key and a leather belt onto the corset. Next onto the dress. I took the creme colored skirt cut out the under slip and sewed it onto the small starter dress. I took the slip I had cut out and hand sewed it into a replica of the top of the dress and sewed it onto the dress so that it would match the creme color of the skirt. Now I didn’t forget all of those skirts and pillowcases in various shades of green I bought. I took those took them apart and made the bottom edges ragged and sewed them on in panels on the back of the skirt. The material was thick because of all the layers so I had to do all of that by hand, because I didn’t want to harm my machine. I found a free printable pattern online for a hooded cape and made that with some fabric I had at home. I used faux leather to cut out some gears shapes and sewed them on various places for decoration. I also used the faux leather to sew on straps for the dress. I then made an arrow sheath by hand with the faux leather. I then cut leggings to look ragged and cool and also to show the robot leg I had painted on my leg. Thats all of my project
