Love Red Polka Dots!
April 14th, 2009 in reader's closetRed georgette with white polka dots has a soft airy feeling when scrunched up over red crepe de chine lining. The gathered and ruching detail of this design are perfect for this soft, flowy fabric. The style is perfect for my figure and the dots lend a little camouflage! I feel very light on my feet in this dress, which was finished in time for the Valentine's Ball!

I'm trying to make something similar and wondered if you would share some tips: my dress has small gathered cap sleeves and a *gasp* shawl collar. what I'm having trouble with is the lining...where do I sew it in? and on what step of the construction? (I'm not planning on lining the sleeves and the collar is 1 pc with the front so I'm sewing the neck/collar/and shoulders all at once...yikes)
I'm also contemplating making the chiffon overdress, then making an empire waist camisole and sewing them together at the waist then lining the skirt. What do you think would work best?
Thanks!
