Siren of the Deep
April 16th, 2009 in reader's closetTop and skirt consist of 2 layers of chiffon. The upper layer is an abstract print and the lower layer is a solid purple. The design is an adaptation of LJ Designs asymmetrical skirt and top. I added the underlayer, which is slightly longer than the upper layer, added slits to the upper layer of the skirt, added the ruffled collar to the top, and added the tie belt, which can be arranged in different ways to cinch one or both layers. The design was inspired by a photograph of a dress taken under water. The crux of the sewing was narrow hemming all the edges on the skirt and the top and mitering the many (about 40) tiny corners on the panels!
