Spring is not always warm, especially this year spring with snow in May in some places therefore I made this light coat and a matching skirt from 100% purple wool. I liked the color very much and I don’t think I can easily find this color in store-bought coats. It has close fit, front and back yokes, blind flaps at bust level and pockets with flaps at hip level, narrow sleeves. This coat has a lot of seams so it was quite difficult to sew. But the main feature of the coat is 100% dupioni silk lining. Well, when I sew clothes for myself I can afford to use expensive fabric since I don’t need a lot of it. And also, these large purple buttons are certainly eye-catching. The A-line skirt has curved seams, wraps over in front and is fastened with buttons. The hem is sewn by hand, my hand of course. I used as base ideas and patterns from Burda magazine 3/2006 and 10/2005.
