Easy Guide to Sewing makes a great gift for any sewer!

Easy Guide to Sewing (Taunton Press, 2009) by Marcy Tilton and Lynn MacIntyre, teaches everything you need to know about sewing and fitting tops, t-shirts, skirts, and pants. This latest version is a collection of three earlier Taunton classics and features three hundred and seventy pages of diagrams and guides help you start and finish your projects perfectly.

As an experienced sewer, I thought there would be nothing for me in this book. But when I started looking through it, I quickly realized I was wrong. Easy Guide to Sewing serves as an easy and fast reference for any sewing question I can think of, so it’s great if you need to look something up in a hurry. And the guides to styles, silhouettes, zippers and proportions make finding the right pattern and style easier and faster for any sewer.

If you’re looking for a gift to give a sewing friend at any level (Mother’s day is right around the corner!) Easy Guide to Sewing is perfect.

togorose togorose writes: I really need this book, as I have lost so much weight due to on going slow growing cancer disease. I cannot find clothes to fit me decently anywhere. I can't shop in the teens dept. as I am a senior with a weight of 93 lb. It is so hard to try purchase clothing, I have been learning to sew, so I can make my own clothes for special occasions, I don't care what I where around home, but when I go out I want to look good.

Suesews98 Suesews98 writes: I have been sewing for many years (40+ years) but still have not gotten the whole fitting thing down. I sew for my granddaughters and I mend and sew home dec items easily but get so frustrated when it comes to making a simple tee that actually fits and doesn't look amateurish. This looks like just the ticket for me!

I would love to have the book. Quite a bit has changed -- fabrics, techniques, etc., and it appears that there is the opportunity for a whole lot of creativity. I got a dress form for Christmas. Would love to have that book !!!

kcranst1 kcranst1 writes: I'm new to sewing and this website. I've found some patterns that break down things so well, and others that appear to be simple, yet are difficult to understand what they want you to do! As a beginner this book would definitely come in so handy! Currently, I take up so much time searching for techniques on the internet. With all the wonderful websites and blogs out there, it takes a while to research. This website is a great tool and I will be subscribing to the Threads magazine as well.

needlestoknowbasis needlestoknowbasis writes: I've just found a job (Yeah) after a long search and found that most of my business clothes really need help. So I dusted off my sewing machine. After a few attemps at threading the needle, I believe we need relationshiop therapy. This is my grandmother's sewing machine, which my mother swears by, and from what I remember from making that apron in home ec... well, I really need some help. What does tension do anyway? I don't think it can be fixed with a glass of red wine. This may be the book to help me fix my wardrobe, be a success at the new place and relieve my fiscal tension!

kiti63 kiti63 writes: I've been sewing for thirty years, and in that time I've accumulated a huge library of books, patterns and magazines. When I'm ready to make some basics for a new wardrobe, I end up wasting time sorting through so many combinations I end up getting frustrated and not sewing anything at all. This book looks like an excellent time saver that condenses all I need to just sit down and start sewing. It would simplify everything by have a quick reference at my fingertips.

birdlady1 birdlady1 writes: Hi!

My mom just bought herself a sewing machine. As as child, my mom always put me first from sewing some of my clothes, mending them when they needed fixing and knitting me a lot of skating sweaters. I think this book would be great for her to have. Now that I am older she can make clothes for herself and with this book, it would be very helpful. It would also be cool that I was able to win something for her as she deserves a lot more than I can give her.
