It’s a designer outfit created for LinenKids.com by one of Lithuania’s best designers of children’s clothing, Jurga Jokubaitiene. Jurga relates how she was inspired.
“I chose a linen fabric to make something special for my son’s christening. This holy day reflects purity so a pure, softened linen was perfect. And, kids feel cool and comfortable in linen, not like in those synthetics (like those satin dresses or polyester suits) that don’t breathe; kids don’t feel good wearing them. If it’s cold, all I add is a soft cotton lining for extra warmth.”
“Well, my boy looked angelic.” She laughs, “Other mothers saw him and wanted special apparel for their children’s christenings too. It sparked new ideas.”
“Each outfit has to be unique. So I cross stitch and sew every bit of decor by hand. It worked,” she smiles proudly. “Every child looked beautiful adorned in festive linen for the solemn ceremony.”
