With this skirt, I tried my hand at designing for the first time. I made the top from a pattern (Vogue 8476), but I designed the skirt myself.
The skirt is made of a chocolate brown shantung, which is made to look like raw silk (though it isn't). It has 3 petal-shaped tiers, which are scalloped in the front, and edged in the same deep red color as the top.
Here is a back view of the skirt. The tiers go straight across in back, and it is slightly longer than the front.

This chocolate brown shantung petal skirt with red trim was my first attempt at designing a garment. I am very pleased with the result. It is paired with a blouse made from Vogue pattern 8476. Please see all four photos for a full description.
