I love linen, but this was just boring. I used a stencil and Jaquard fabric paint to liven up the stripe of fabric which gave it a little life.  But still not great. I pulled out embroidery designs and mimicked the stencil with the Make It Mod Cactus Punch design.
Jacket Pattern by Barb Callahan Originals - Flower Jacket. This is a great pattern, its simple allowing for design creativity and it fits great. This garment was to be all mustard colored linen with slacks, but due to a slight error in calculations, black linen was added to finish the jacket.
Not one to be a quitter, I decided the collar really needed a little jazzing up and again used the Make It Mod design collection to finish off the jacket with embroideries on the collar.
The Make it Mod designs made a great finish to this jacket.  Ive made this jacket pattern several times now in different linens and heavy cottons. Its great for summer, fall and winter depending on fabrics.  The lack of mustard fabric and great buttons were a bonus in creating this look.

Mustard and black linens were used for the Flower Jacket Pattern by Barb Callahan Originals.  It's a pattern that after the first making, is a snap for first time sewers as well as seasoned fabric artists.
