Threads Techniques

Issue: July 2009 Number 143

This technique showed up in Threads at the perfect time! Currently, I am researching Native American art and design among the tribes. I just got back from a trip to Oklahoma where I learned about the Cherokee Indians—my heritage—and found many of their designs fascinating. It’s motivated me to learn about other tribal designs, so imagine my thrill when this Seminole patchwork showed up in my Threads magazine. I had to try it out! I thought a small plastic bag holder would be a perfect project for practicing the technique.

Very nice. I used the same technique on a dress. I had so much fun doing it. This is really cute.

Your bag is lovely, and the piecing is perfect. I love sewing as there are endless challenges, and then those happy moments when it all works out.
