Voodoo Doll
comments (1) October 14th, 2009 in sewing, design, garment construction, fabric, reader's closetI went to this Halloween event with my friend, who was a Voodoo Priest.
The costume was handmade with no commercial pattern. I made the patchwork dress and armwarmers by creating my own patchwork material. I cut up odd pieces of 8 different fabrics and sewed them back together to make one sheet of fabric. I reinforced the seams with yarn, adding to the handmade look.
My wig was also made by hand, out of yarn, attached to hair ties. I even "sewed" up my skin and my lips shut with yarn glued to my face with Spirit Gum.

Would love to have incorporated the stitches as part of my costume. What a great Phot.
