Re: Threads #180: Check out our latest issue, and enter to win

I look forward to the beginning to last page of every Threads, but I am very intrigued by the Hong Kong shopping trip as traveling and buying fabric are 2 of my favorite things.

Re: Book Giveaway and Interview with Shea Henderson

My. First project was a pair of super wide drawstring pants in grade 7 my mom did most of the work so they turned out great!

Re: Industry Insider Techniques DVD Giveaway

My project at the moment is a tailored pair of pants for my husband, welt pockets and all!! I could sure use some insider tips and tricks for this and all my sewing projects.

Re: The Perfect Blouse DVD Giveaway

My first pair of jeans with rivets and all, they are long gone and haven't had the time to recreate them, someday...........

Re: Magazine Giveaway: The Best of Threads--Handbags

I dont make bags yet but I would love to start and this magazine looks like it has some gorgeous projects!

Re: Book Giveaway: "Threads Sew Smarter, Better & Faster"

I use thin nylon thread for basting, it never gets caught in my sttiching slips right out and is reusable for a few uses if you keep the threads in a big can or jar

Re: Book Giveaway: "Patternmaking Made Easy," Third Edition by Connie Crawford

I love anything drapey or wrapped. But as soon as I said that I also love anything with lots of seams and structured as well.

Re: Book Giveaway: "Textiles: The Art of Mankind"

Im pretty crazy about all east Indian fabrics and also the chinese brocades. I like pretty much all fabric as long as its not too plasticy man made but even some of those have their merits

Re: Magazine Giveaway: "Designer Techniques Vol. 2"

Isabelle Toledo, genius!

Re: Second Annual National Serger Month Celebration and Giveaway

You can use your serger for other things than finishing seams?

Re: Book Giveaway: "The Complete Photo Guide to Clothing Construction"

There is always something new to learn and also its just a beautiful looking book that I would love to put in my library.

Re: Book Giveaway: John Gillow Textiles Titles

A girlfriend of mine used to bring back the most fabulous Thai silks that she would use for reversible vests for men, they were fantastic. I myself would love to fabric shop in India someday.

Re: Magazine Giveaway: Threads Issue no.172

The first time I received compliments on a skirt I had made at around 23 years old I was hooked. It was a simple straight skirt with a horse head pattern fabric. I wore it to shreds.

Re: Kenneth D. King's Kilim Carpet Coat: The Big Finish

Just noticed that you do have a class on Craftsy for this coat! I will have to check that out very soon.

Re: Kenneth D. King's Kilim Carpet Coat: The Big Finish

That is just sensational! I think I saw you on the subway with your tufted jacket on once which is also fantastic but this one oh my..... I think you should turn how you made this jacket into a class.

Re: Book Giveaway: Artist/Rebel/Dandy: Men of Fashion

It is always so refreshing to see a man with style and attention to detail, especially a young man who forgoes the jeans, tshirt and baseball cap once in a while

Re: Enter the Teach Yourself to Sew Giveaway Sponsored by Janome

I already sew but I am teaching others to sew now, that machine would be awesome for a student!

Re: The Bag-Lady Giveaway: Four handbag books and a quilted bag to carry them all!

I would like to make a big bag out of waxed canvass with lots of pocket to take my supplies to fashion school in.

Re: Enter to Win an Oliso Pro Smart Iron!

Pressing all your seams as you sew is key for a wonderful garment. I like to use strips of paper in betweeen the seam allowances and a pressing cloth to make sure I have no imprints or shine. This iron looks fantastic!

Re: Book Giveaway: Dressmaking: 200 Q&A

My trick is to assemble the garment in my mind first, usually right before going to sleep and then write out the steps

Re: Magazine Giveaway: Threads Issue 168

absolutley anythng Audrey Hepburn wore and Diana Ross in Mahogany all the clothes were fabulous in that movie. I also loved The Cook The Thief His Wife and Her Lover, the designs by Jean Paul Gaultier were dynamite

Re: Enter to Win a One-Year Subscription to Threads!

I have been buying Threads since around 1998, to receive a one year subscription would be such a gift. I am starting the fashion apparel program here this fall at a local college and Im sure threads for a year would be a great rescource for me as it always is!

Re: Win a One-Year Threads Insider Membership!

I just love all things Threads so winning a year of Threads Insider would be a thrill.

Re: Book Giveaway: "Creating a Successful Fashion Collection"

I would love to design a collection with very unusal and modern cuts, bias, blocking, unusual finishes, that sort of think also in eco friendly fabrics

Re: Book and DVD Giveaway: Claire B. Shaeffer's "Couture Sewing: Tailoring Techniques"

I have been a long time sewer and still have not been through a whole jacket tailoring process, my goal is to learn more tailoring techniques and make a beautiful jacket. This book would be a wonderful resource. Love Claire.

Re: Book Giveaway: "The Essential A-Line"

I think I would love to try the basic Aline in a digital print fabric and also cut one out on the bias and see what transpires.

Oh to understand the mystery

Re: Magazine Giveaway: "Threads" Issue #165 (February/March 2013)

I love making a blind hem by hand, it usually means the project is complete.

Re: MAGAZINE GIVEAWAY: What advice would you give to someone learning to sew?

I would say get someone patient to teach you all about your machine and a few very simple projects, tote bag, straight skirt etc. first. Then move up to something more difficult, read your directions at least ten times and then visualize putting your project together before you go to sleep (kooky but it really helps) take your time and be proud whatever the results. Also get a subscription to Threads!

Re: Using Buttons as Embellishment

Wowsa, I love it! Its so dramatic and you are wearing it well.

Re: Firming Up Fabrics with Gelatine

What a great tip!! I wonder if it would work on stretch velvet which can be like sewing water its so slippery

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: The Colette Sewing Handbook

Love, Love, Love Colette I have been reading the blog for a while now and just love the Colette vision for sewers its very helpful to new sewers and the patterns are super pretty and feminine I think there should be a Colette type teaching studio for sewers/creators in every town!

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "The Art of Fashion Draping" by Connie Amaden-Crawford

I would love to learn how to drape a classic wrapover DVFB style dress with side pleats and details at the neckline as well, maybe also attempt a Vionet design that would be a challenge Im sure!

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: A Field Guide to Fabric Design

I would love to try my hand at designing my own fabric for some simple little skirts I love to embelish fabric so designing would be fabulous!
