Re: Project Runway: Season 8 - Finale Part 1
Michael should not have been eliminated. Yes the 3 he showed were all the same color but he told MK that he also had grey in his collection.

Also, Michael won the episode where April was out. PR used to automatically send the final episode winner to the tent for showing their collection. I am very unhappy with the judges choices in this last episode and the way that have changed the show.
Re: Haute Couture Exhibition at FIDM
Absolutely beautiful. Wish I could visit the exhibit.

Mary, Both techniques are great. I would use a technique that quilters use when they quilt each block separately then combine them for a completed quilt. This would encase all seams within the garment and could actually make it reversible.

Great article. I have a golf umbrella which needs recovering and will definitely try this method.

Mary, I love the quilting design you chose for the back. While you are tiny, I believe the design enhances the figure and would create a slimming effect. I note that several have asked about your finished seams, I too would like to know what method you used since the seams could end up bulky. Without your input my first inclination would be to use a method in quilting where you quilt each block separately then join them together. You sew the front seams together then trim batting so the pieces abut each other, then hand finish the inside so that all seams are now encased.

Fantastic tip. Been sewing for 50 years and never have seen it before. Can't wait to try it.

I love all your work. This is great detail for two of my favorite embroidery stitches. I am trying smocking and would appreciate an article on it. One of the most frustrating things so far is that when you pleat 44" wide fabric if you want the pleats to sit neatly beside each other you can only get, at most, a 10" wide piece. So how do you get a piece wide enough for an older child? May seem like a dumb question, but everytime I try to fit the pleating to something wider, it doesn't look neat.
