Little Princess on the Beach

I made this little flower girl dress for my granddaughter to wear at a tropical beach wedding. I started with Butterick 3351, but made some modifications. I opted not to make an overskirt or belt...

Re: Project Runway All Stars, Episode 7: "An Unconventional Nightmare Before Christmas"

I thought Joshua should have gone home. His outfit was a chiquita banana girl gone bad! His shorts were hideous and ill-fitting, too. I thought costumes were frowned upon? This was nothing a woman could wear, except maybe on Halloween--with leggings on under those revealing shorts.

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "The Art of Fashion Draping" by Connie Amaden-Crawford

I have always been intrigued, but more than a little intimidated by draping. I'd love to learn to drape a beautiful top or dress that really fits me!

Re: How to Make a Lovely Pleated-Ribbon Trim

That's a wider trim than the previous one you did. Would you still attach it at the middle where the stitching is? Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorials. Much appreciated!

Re: Book Giveaway: "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty"

Inspiring, intriguing, innovative, intimidating, incredible, intense, influential, interesting, inventive, ingenious, individuality. These are the things that come to mind when I think of Alexander McQueen. Having the book would be a wonderful indulgence. ;)

Re: Project Runway All Stars: "When I Get My Dress in Lights"

Well, I think Michael's designs are a big snooze-fest. He has maybe 3 looks and not much imagination. I can't believe he has made it this far. At least Jerell's designs are never boring.

I'm hoping for Mondo, Austin and Kenley for the final. For the win, I can't decide between Mondo and Austin. Mondo is mod, and Austin is fairytale...can't decide which I like better, but I think I'm leaning toward Austin.

Re: No Halstons Here: Project Runway Episode 10 is "Sew '70s"

I think it's going to be Anya, Viktor, and Bert at Bryant Park. And I agree that it should be. Josh can sometimes design well, but is mostly too gaudy - over the top for my tastes. Plus, he is whiny, arrogant, and obnoxious. I'll be happy to see him go.

Laura Kathleen and Kimberly have not produced anything that I've loved so far. Though I think Kimberly is a better designer than LK.

As far as Anya goes, I love her taste but I think her designs are almost always very similar and overly simple. Maybe that's because she only started sewing a few months ago.

Viktor designs some beautiful clothing, but he often bores me. Bert is the one I pick to win. He is innovative, fashion forward, can design better than most, and his garments are always impeccably sewn and fit wonderfully. Go Bert!

Re: MAGAZINE GIVEAWAY: "Quick Stuff to Sew"

I will be making puppets and pjs for the grandkids, infinity scarves and tote bags for the females on my list, pj pants and fleece pullover jacket for my hubby.

Re: Book Giveaway: "Horrockses Fashions: Off-the-Peg Style in the '40s and '50s"

This book sounds like a valuable resource and a great addition to my library on vintage clothing. Thanks for the opportunity to win it!

Re: Book Giveaway: Successful Serging

I got my serger a few years ago and loved using it. Threading it was AWFUL, however. And when my 3 year old granddaughter un-threaded it one day, I just put it in the corner of my sewing room and forgot about it. I really should get it out and practice using it again!

Oh, and thank you for forcing me to put my own avatar up! I don't like pictures of myself, but I have to admit they're better than using those stock pictures!!
