Re: Book Giveaway: "Threads Sewing Guide"
"Seamstress" used to be the way I described myself, and I always had several projects going on. But then things happened--a too-demanding job, family and health issues, etc., and I got away from sewing. I still went to fabric stores whenever I could, still subscribed to Threads, still had fantasies about projects I'd like to do, if I ever had the time. Well, that time is NOW, and I need a boost to help me get back on track and bring me up-to-date on the latest techniques and products. This book would be just the ticket, and I'd be thrilled to get it!

I think the judges made the Jay/Mila decision based on a certain balance they're looking for in the final three. The combination of out-there Seth Aaron + retro-chic Mila + sophisiticated-glamorous (usually) Emilio will bring a lot of variation to the runway. Jay would certainly be interesting to see, but I think he needs to mature a bit in his taste. I am very much looking forward to the final runway. This has been a great season, and I'm so glad it's been in NYC!

I bought my serger about 25 years ago and used it a lot. For various reasons I pretty much quit sewing at least 15 years ago, and now I'm beginning to pick it up again, wich great joy. Unfortunately I've forgotten a lot about the serger, so this book would be a great re-education!

Re: Meet Designer Brook DeLorme
What I think is interesting here is NOT what we see right now, but what we might see from Brook 5-10-15 years out. She has an aesthetic, a way of looking at fabrics/existing garments and seeing possibilities. The mobius dress is beautiful and looks very wearable by many different types of women. I wish her well!
