Re: Book Giveaway: "Threads Sew Smarter, Better & Faster"

I like to use plain fabric for a muslin or when making technique samples. I write directly on the muslin or sample fabric the adjustments required, changes I would make or things to remember when doing the assembly of the technique. I found it easier to adjust a paper pattern with the notes on the muslin. I keep the technique samples for reference. With notes written directly on the sample I find it easier to remember particular points when applying the technique to a finished project.

Re: Simplicity Patterns: Early Spring 2014 Review & Givewaway!

1467 is a real winner! The pattern is very versatile and could be used to increase my wardrobe for casual or business dress wear. There are so many options to mix and watch. This pattern would be a great addition to get started on my spring/summer wardrobe.

Re: Win a Copy of Serger Techniques on DVD!

There are days when I wish I didn't own a serger. There are times when threading it becomes an overwhelming chore and then it doesn't sew right. Tips on adjusting the pressure and serging those difficult areas would be great!

Re: Book Giveaway: Dressmaking: 200 Q&A

Always test sew the fabric. Sometimes the sewing machine needs some manual adjustments to eliminate puckers. Read the sewing machine manual for great tips!

Re: Win a Copy of Smart Fitting with Kenneth D. King on DVD

I have taken a couple of classes from Kenneth King and found them to be methodically and clearly presented. The forums I had participated in were very informative. The experience has helped me to advance my sewing skills. I would love to be able to add Smart Fitting to my reference library.

Re: Book Giveaway: Summer Mystery Reading for the Sewing Enthusiast

I am not familiar with this series. Looks like it would be a great read. Would love to have a copy!

Re: DVD GIVEAWAY: Industry Insider Techniques with Louise Cutting Volumes 1-4

I have learned over the past year how wonderful it is to have visuals when learning and improving on sewing techniques. To have this as a reference tool would be awesome!

Re: Giveaway: SewStylish Spring 2012 Fashion Sewing Guide

Make It Your Way would be of interest to me. Since I have improved my sewing skills I would like to be able to reuse some of the patterns I currently have to get a different look. I am looking forward to reading the magazine.

Re: Book Giveaway: "Draping Basics" by Sally M. Di Marco

I have always liked to sew and over the years went from sewing clothing and then to quilting. Three years ago I joined a Sewing Guild. It has probably been the best thing that I have ever done for myself. These ladies emphasize clothing but like to see anything anyone makes. The first year I attended the whole season was based on proper fit of a pattern and general directions on how to adjust the pattern. The next two years have been further indepth workshops on fitting blouse, skirt, pants and tshirts. This helped my finished look tremendously. Just recently I made my own pants pattern with great success! After each success I am further encouraged to challenge myself further. One of our presentors encouraged us not to just buy resource books but to read them as well. It was suggested that sewing with a sloper would be a great help. I had no idea what they were talking about! I have been encouraged to take this next step, challenge myself and take my sewing to another level.
