I have inherited some mental illness that has not been formally classified. I call it “creative insanity”. I am addicted to texture and color. My problem is so bad that nothing else really excites me. I see potential in almost everything.
My grandmother on my Father’s side had a house full of broken treasures that were on their way to a new purpose. She would constantly have a new project going on. My Grandmother on my Mother’s side always kept bottle cap, dish detergent bottles and aluminum pan around for us to play with when we visited. My father has collected about an acre of scrap metal and parts off machines. They might come in handie someday. My mother made mixer, toaster and can opener covers that matched her kitchen curtains. She would also go on a walk in the woods and come back with an arm load of weeds. After a few minutes she would produce a beautiful arrangement. (Long before “Martha”) But all of us have enjoyed the use of fabric. I consider it a perfect exhibit for art. Each piece is different and unique.
My family is not only known for not throwing away things but we also see the potential in people.
I love to bless people with what I make.
