I remember it like it was yesterday! I was 7 years old at the time and was laying on my stomach on my Oma's couch in Cologne, West Germany (before reunification) watching it on the only television in the house.

Rabia, that sounds like a blindstitch machine. I have one and love it! I work in an industrial machine shop so I see all sorts of really cool machines. At the moment, I am coveting a cylinder-arm walking-foot machine, sigh.

I'm surprised to see the lower part of the facing finished off by hand. It's so much easier and neater to stitch that last bit by machine when bagging the lining.
It's a vintage zigzag attachment for a straight stitch machine.
