Carmon Marinade Square Dance Dress on a budget!

Re: ultimate sewing challenge 2011

Hi Debbie!
I just saw the 10 finalists and am very disappointed in Threads regarding some of their choices. I cannot overcome the thoughts that my ethics are very different from some of the other contestant's ethics. I strongly believe at least 2 never sewed their item(s). All the way from being a haberdasher to a professional level seamstress/designer for your very first sewing experience; I do not feel good about believing actually happened. I am sorry to see folks like you not even place. Too bad more experience was not behind the decision making of the 10 finalists. The outcome is not leaving me feeling very good about the merits of the contest and I for one, am sorry to have participated. I am however, glad to know you and look forward to talking more in the future! Blessings! Jayne

Re: ultimate sewing challenge 2011

Morning Debbie! Thanks for the feedback on my military uniform! I had so much fun talking on the phone with you the other day that I did not realize that we had talked for almost an hour! I do have a button page up now on my farm website: www.GrapeLanePoultryFarm.org but have not listed prices or all my other buttons yet. I have my button pics on an old memory disk and I need to go to Kinkos and see if they can download them for me. I also need to figure out pricing. Costs to run the kiln and gather supplies have changed! In-the-mean-time, if you win the sewing machine I will barter all the buttons you want for it! LOL :))) kidding - but you never know until you try! My other sewing machine is a Sears from the 70's I found in very good condition at the Cats Meow thrift store. I use that and the 2 treadles to sew. I don't know what I'd do with an modern sewing machine! Could be dangerous! I may not be able to stop sewing! Or I could gain weight from not treadling like crazy! LOL!!

Re: And Old Buttons!

Katielynne! I am in Jefferson, Oregon!! We are in the same State. Jefferson is about 8 miles south of Salem. If you would like to stop by and have a cup of tea soon, I can show you my buttons and the articles about them! Anyone who has a picture of their beautiful cat up on the Net is always someone I'd like to meet! Blessings! Jayne

Re: Carmon Marinade Square Dance Dress on a budget!

Thank you NubianGoddess! I felt it dancing inside of me before I made it! The dress loves to dance and it is electric to wear!! I would like to see some of your designs!

Re: A Salute to Navy Uniforms!

Thank you ab1908! Coco Chanel's work is stunning! A true legacy to follow. I don't know who designed the Navy uniform, but it would be a fun research!

Re: And Old Buttons!

Hi Debbie, yes I do sell these buttons! You may contact me at elderoak1@yahoo.com. Kindest regards, Jayne

Re: Mae West eat your heart out

Wonderful! Smashing! It is as beautiful as your smile!! Thank you!

Re: Carmon Marinade Square Dance Dress on a budget!

I forgot to mention! The square dance dress pattern has different sleeves. Little puff ones that just did not express what I was feeling about all the peach, red and orange water melons and cantaloupe designs on the fabric and the exotic way the colors actually matched the slip and panties! I designed and added the Carmon Marinade sleeves and three rows of ruffles on the skirt. It is a thrill to dance in and my joy about the dress and experience designing it is contagious! I want everyone to sew!!!

I teach classes on sewing using antique treadle sewing machines! I use a vintage Brother from the 1950's when I am not on the treadle. I learned to French seam and other fine finishing techniques from many of my Threads magazines. I don't have a serger or many options on my machine so learning good hand techniques or tailoring techniques is a must! I have collected several antique sewing books that also give me good advise. All my dresses including this one are French seamed. Go to my farm Web site at www.GrapeLanePoultryFarm.org and click on the work shops - scroll down past the horse plow workshop I teach and you will find my treadle sewing workshops!! I have two beautiful all original perfect treadles in their original ornate cabinets!

Re: Fantastical Wedding Jacket

What a wonderful new husband! She picked a winner and he will always love her and want to please her. He's first on my ticket! My husband wore much the same at our wedding too! Both guys are lovely inside, and well, outside too! :)) and THAT is what matters!

Re: DVD GIVEAWAY: Threads Magazine Archive, 1985-2011

I plan to be buried with my threads magazines and will sew the ultimate outfit to go with them!

Re: Gallery of Gorgeous Gloves by John Koch

I own a ranch and go through gloves like breathing air. I enjoy my horse as much as I enjoy sewing and was thrilled to learn about John's fabulous gloves! Now not only can I have a great pair of work gloves that have style and function, I can make gloves for when I am showing Miss Kitty (my horse) and we can have matching outfits with matching gloves!! I enjoy sewing her horse blankets, saddle blankets, leggings, and outfits for me to match hers! Now I can have gloves too! Life is a stitch! Thanks for the great gloves John! I'll think of your kindness everytime I wear them! Jayne and Miss Kitty
