Re: Enter to Win a One-Year Subscription to Threads!

OMG - why WOULDN'T I want a years subscription to my favorite magazine? lol I learn so much from this publication, I just want it to keep coming!!!

Re: Book and DVD Giveaway: Claire B. Shaeffer's "Couture Sewing: Tailoring Techniques"

I love Claire's book and have the others, which I use all the time. Tailoring is one aspect of my sewing education that has languished - and I would love to learn the correct way to tailor from the master!

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "All Sewn Up"

I always make homemade Christmas and enjoy it very much. Last year, everyone got fleece jammie pants. This year they are getting those hot/cold packs you can make with cherry pits. A lot easier than jammie pants!!! I would love to win this book, and maybe make a little something special for the ladies :) Karen Gass

Re: Project Runway Episode 6: "Fix My Friend!"

Boy, lots of comments on this episode! :) I completely agree with aislinnluv about the issue of 'real'. What TV thinks is real, is a far cry from what's going on out here in the real world. (with the possible exception of Duck Dynasty) :)
Ven was my favorite designer, I thought he had it in him to win. After Thursdays episode, he is off my list. He has enough talent in him to have made that woman look GORGEOUS! But he couldn't be bothered. He WAS bothered by the fact that he had to 'make a dress for a fat lady'. And she was not fat, she was pretty and normal sized. As far as I'm concerned, he owes the public, and the woman he designed for a big fat apology. And several new dresses for the woman. Give him some practice at designing for 'real' women. Adios, Ven!

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "The Art of Fashion Draping" by Connie Amaden-Crawford

I would love to learn how to drape dresses of all kinds, from elegant evening to day dresses. I am all about dresses :) and have ideas for them, but I don't know how to make them come to life. Thank you for the giveaway!

Re: Project Runway Season 10: "Women On the Go"

Buffy should have gone home - that was a tacky mess she sent down the runway :(

I really thought Dimitry should have won, that was a Gorgeous dress - but why is everything so drab? It's hard to see the details on TV when the garments are black.

Overall, I think Ven is the best. He has taste and ability and talent. He should go far, and I hope he does.

I KNOW I would never hold up under the pressure of that show. I just can't sew for that long at one time. But I think, if you've committed to something, and then find you can't go through with it - at least have the grace to say good bye. But then again, I've never been in those shoes, so who knows?

Re: Book Giveaway: Summer Mystery Reading for the Sewing Enthusiast

A friend recommended these books - I'd love to read them!! Thank you for offering them!

Re: Create a Couched Embroidery Design

This is pretty, and I do love architectural details, but I think I would also do it 'the hard way'! First of all, because I don't have an embroidery machine but even if I did, I think I prefer the old school. Might even do it by hand! :)

Re: Making Pretty Buttonholes

This worked wonderfully on a doll jacket I was making. It was even a stretch knit, and it worked perfectly! (i had interfaced the buttonhole area with tricot knit fusible) I have beautiful buttonholes on my doll jacket - which truthfully I was dreading. Now I can't wait to make some on my own garments! Thank you Louise :)

Re: Project Runway All Stars: "Finale Part 1"

I've always been an Austin Scarlett fan, so I'm sticking with him. I'm not at all sure about those big ole pink 'pants?' or whatever they are - that's just it, I don't know what they are!!!! He has always made beautiful clothes. Wearable? Not in my world, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the beauty in them. A girl can dream can't she? :)

Re: Shaped Twisted Bias Insertions

i kind of liked it before the twist! :)But it is a cool technique.

Re: No Halstons Here: Project Runway Episode 10 is "Sew '70s"

Anthony Ryans clothes were hideous. He should have been sent home. Joshua's clothes were equally hideous, somehow he drew the lucky button and stayed.

I lived in the 70's - I never saw anything like what Laura put together - Never. And I lived in California, on the beach.... where else to get front seats at the fashions of the time? As for not living through it as a reason for failing...well, good grief.... we haven't lived through the Renaissance either, but we can sure make some awesome clothes to wear to a fair or event!!!

I will be glad when Joshua goes home, he's more emotional than anyone I've seen, and he's annoying as all get out and his clothes are not that great.

Anya, Bert and Viktor are my picks for Fashion Week - besides, they are usually the only ones I remember anything about!!!

Mad Fashion starts tonight with Chris March - do you have it set up on your DVR? :) How come I can remember him from 'how many' seasons ago, but I can't remember what many of the designers have done this season? Are the pickings really THAT slim!?!?!?!

Re: Project Runway 9: "What Women Want"

So far, this was the most interesting episode. Where are the personality's? The Santino's and the Austin Scarlett? (am I the only one who misses their show? I really do) Even Gretchen had personality and you remembered who she was.

I did like Josh's dress, especially with the teal shoes - gorgeous!!!! I do not like Josh, he is more emotional than my teenage daughter! Get a grip on yourself Josh!!!!

I also liked the sleeve on Anya's dress - I think it balanced the long/short skirt, with the sleeve being on the short side. All I can say about her is she must be a sewing savant.

I missed the commercial for Project Accessory, but I"ll try it out. And oh yes, I am watching Chris March's new show - I always liked him. What a laugh! :) Looking forward to next week!!!

Re: Project Runway 9: "All About Nina"

This is the first year that Project Runway is 'blah'. I've watched every season, I've watched some episodes many times, and I remember all the people. Not this year. The only two people that stand out to me are Bert and Anya. I also don't believe she's only had 4 months of instruction in sewing. It just doesn't make sense. I've been sewing my whole life, and I don't know how to draw, design, then take that design off her drawing pad and turn it into a garment. I know I could learn, but not THAT and SEWING in 4 months! I know I'm generally cynical - but I just don't believe it and wonder why the show has her on. I've seen designers help other designers before, but not to the extent that they've had to help her. I think this years PR is boring :( and I'm so disappointed because I look forward to it so much. I still watch it tho - cause you never know what could happen and I don't want to miss it :)
