I started sewing doll clothes when I was about six years old. Then my grandmother's aunt taught me to embroidery. I was in Brownies and Girl Scouts where we learned a lot of crafts including sewing by hand and by machine. The first garment I sewed by machine for myself was an apron sewed in a Singer sewing machine class at a local dealer when I was in the 5th grade. I taught myself to knit and crochet from books because Mom was too busy to teach me herself. In high school, I altered hand-me-down dresses from my cousin to fit me and made my prom dress. While at college, I made clothes for myself including my wedding gown and maternity clothes, and made clothes for my daughter. I graduated with a BS in mathematics and MS in physics and worked as an engineer. Now that I am retired, I like to spend most of my time sewing, especially quilting. Trying to fit my aging figure is my biggest problem in sewing clothes. I am a member of the American Sewing Guild, The Appliqué Society, and my local quilt guild.

Re: Teach Yourself to Sew: How to Mark a Dart
These video clips are a great aid. The tips and camera angles for the sewing are very good. They are clear and concise. I wish that they had been around when I first started sewing. They would have saved me a lot of frustration and time. Now I can learn better techniques for doing what I thought I knew how to do. Thank you for making such great videos and making them available to new sewers and retreads like me.
