Designer/Author/Educator
I have been creating one-of-a-kind (often hand-dyed) silk garments professionally for over 30 years. I have translated my more wearable couture silk styles into a pattern collection available on my website and in many stores throughout the US, Canada and Overseas. I have a unique style of garment construction where each section of the pattern is finished (either roll-hem, or lined) then connected to the other pieces using various decorative stitches or beads.
I write for Threads and other fiber arts magazines and enjoy teaching and lecturing at Trade Shows, Guilds, and Shops. I give my own sewing/dyeing retreat in Portland, Oregon every August called Modular Magic....most of my designs are simply made with squares and rectangles, no zippers, facings or buttonholes.
However my passion is creating museum-quality showpieces. I won the Bernina Fashion Show Creme de la Creme award twice, and other international awards, and am also in the Bernina Hall of Fame.
