I learned to sew young from my mom and would piece together scraps for my dolls (by hand--poorly). I learned to make patterns and make clothes fit from my mom-in law. I dreamed of quilting after seeing a double wedding ring quilt (a goal project of mine!) my great grandma made and art quilts in quilting books/magazines. My husband bought me my sewing machine the Christmas before we got married and it's been a joy!
I love threads! Lots of great advice here.

I live here in ABQ---great city! I wish I could afford to attend the conference while it's here in my "backyard". *Sigh*

Re: Tux Swing Jacket
is this a shawl collar? Could you post some more pics of the back and the inside? Is it lined?

I love it!
posted: 1:53 pm on May 14thI'm trying to make something similar and wondered if you would share some tips: my dress has small gathered cap sleeves and a *gasp* shawl collar. what I'm having trouble with is the lining...where do I sew it in? and on what step of the construction? (I'm not planning on lining the sleeves and the collar is 1 pc with the front so I'm sewing the neck/collar/and shoulders all at once...yikes)
I'm also contemplating making the chiffon overdress, then making an empire waist camisole and sewing them together at the waist then lining the skirt. What do you think would work best?
Thanks!
