Re: Behind-the-Scenes at DittoForm

My body is so wonky I have trouble with my standard extra-large dress form, this is something I really need. Just wondering about the cost.

Re: How to Achieve Ideal Sewing Machine Thread Tension

The only way I ever used to get the right tension is trial and error. Practice on a scrap piece helps too.

Re: Win a Copy of the All-New The Couture Skirt Book & DVD Set

As I get older I find that I am more anxious to make a beautiful product rather than to get it done. I will be 60 this year and would like to learn more.
Thank you for this opportunity.

Re: Enter Threads Storage Solution Giveaway Sponsored by Go-Organize.com

I could really use more organization. I am space challenged.
Thanks for this opportunity.

Re: Magazine Giveaway: "Designer Techniques Vol. 2"

P.S. Mr. King is my fave.

Re: Magazine Giveaway: "Designer Techniques Vol. 2"

Threads has given me so many great tips and hints for my sewing. I would love to learn more.

Re: Create Boning with Heavy-Duty Zip Ties

I had to make a costume for Violet Beauregard in Willy Wonka. I had to figure out how to make her blow up like a blueberry. I ended up using a hula hoop and some cable wire to make her a nice round blueberry shaped costume. It was well accepted. Really made me think!

Re: Book Giveaway: "Creating a Successful Fashion Collection"

I sew because I love creating, but also because it is a means to a second income. This book would help me learn more so I can do more for my clients. I am currently unable to sew due to some hand surgery, but I can read, and I can't think of any better way to get better fast than to learn while I heal.

Re: Magazine Giveaway: Sew Home

I would make new drapes for my living room with pillows to match.

Re: Video: How to Create a Beautiful Lace Top

I was wondering how to handle this for a sleeve? To hand sew it would be fine, but how would you anchor the ends?

Re: "Project Runway": Anniversary Party in Times Square

I don't watch it. I rely on you tpo show me results. I do not like reality shows qith all the back biting and pety junk.

Re: Quilted Jacket

WOW! Love it! Beautiful job!

Re: MAGAZINE GIVEAWAY: Quilt Your Stash!

For my 100% cotton, I have a 9 foot long glass front cabinet. For all my other fabrics I have many (too many) large plastic bins loaded with the lids popping off.
ANd for some reason, I keep thinking I need more!

Re: What comes first in your sewing concept--the garment or its embellishment?

Generally my garments are boring. I don't "see" embellishment until the gament is finished, and in many cases it is then too late.

THere are so many wonderful trims and ideas I read about.

Re: Book Giveaway: "The Chronicle of Western Costume" by John Peacock

I believe it was the 50's. Scenes of DOnna Reed run through my mind, the large skirt and pearls. Though, the 20's and 30's where when you went out for the evening you wore a gown and the man wore at least a 3 piece suit. Very proper and elegant.

Re: How to Make Ribbon Trim

My biggest wish is that I could apprentice beside him.

Re: MAGAZINE GIVEAWAY: "Quick Stuff to Sew"

This past year I have been buying up small hardcover notebooks. I will be making quilted covers for them, designed specifically for each recipient, to give this Christmas.

Re: 'Project Accessory' Begins Casting Soon

I do not watch Project Runnway due to all the drama.
If they would show just the process and final results, I probably would, but then it wouldn't make for good TV, would it?

Re: What will you be sewing this summer?

I will be sewing for my grandbaby. Next to Jesus, she owns my heart. I have picked up an 18" doll and matching patterns for the doll and my grandbaby and I will be making the matching outfits. I said I would NEVER make another doll wardrobe, but for her, the moon is the limit.

Re: Book Giveaway: "Threads Sewing Guide"

Not only do I need this book for myself, but it will help when I teach the kids.

I just got my 25 years of Threads and the More Fabric Savvy book and I can't wait to see what I can learn.

Re: Lined Wool Dress With Curved Seams

All those curves!!! You have a goof eye for detail and wonderful sewmanship.

Re: MAGAZINE GIVEAWAY: "Designer Techniques"

I wouldn't mind winning this. I could use the help. I have recently been asked by a local junior high school to help with costumes, PLUS I have a brand new grandbaby I want to create for.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE - Threads.

Re: Organza beaded "feather" edge

When cleaning, don't the beads come off? There doesn't seem to be anything to keep them on the trim.
It would have to be a real special garment to do this, like maybe a gown for a cruise!

Re: What is the strangest project you have ever sewn?

A friend asked if I could fix the hood for her horse.
Of course I did, I could not refuse, but it was the strangest thing I ever did.

Re: Sewing In a Zipper

I too would like to know about zippers and linings. I have always had a difficult time with this.

TO Lorraine, you have to let the fusible interfacing cool before sewing. THis should help a lot.

Re: Decorative pockets or bound buttonholes

Thanks for this. THis has always driven me up a wall. I could never get it to look right.

Re: Who is your favorite Threads author?

Sorry, can't choose just one. EAch one has their own tips and tricks that I love.

Re: Mystery Sewing Machine Attachment

It is definately a bias binding attachment.
I use a Bernina and it is very close to the one I use. It is only missing the special foot and the screws to attach it to the sewing bed.

Thanks for the opportunity to help.

Love your tips and hints.

Re: What's your dream sewing project?

To finish all my UFO's and the ideas in my head.

Re: What's your favorite article from Threads magazine over the past 25 years?

I haven't been a subscriber for very long, only 3 years, but it was a difficult decision. I love them all. How about the one about fitting a pair of pants well.

Re: Circular Ribbon Flower Redux

This is so fabulous! THere are a lot of applications for this. I agree with sew4mary that it is more modern than traditional, but what a great idea.

Thank you for all you do. You are terrific!

Re: Machine Quilt a Supple and Stylish Garment, Part II

Thank you for the wonderful instructions on the Hong Kong seaming. It makes for a beautiful piece.
I too would like to know if you have to make allowances of extra fabric because the piece is quilted.

Re: Shell Hem Edge

I'm thinking (look out) this will be the extra special personal touch to my grandbaby's dedication gown.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
