LDL got her own sewing machine for Christmas when she was ten years old (I think her Mom was tired of sharing) and hasn't stopped stitching since. But she is a bit of a late bloomer in that she earned her Masters degree in Textiles, Clothing and Design (It was a personal challenge!) from UNL when she was fifty-something.

Re: Getting Together to Sew and Eat?

Over a decade ago now, two friends and I decided to get together several times during the summer for fabric exchanges, a little quilting and lunch. We exchanged fabric, ate wonderful potluck lunches and talked a great deal. Zero quilts were made than summer...so I guess you could say, "Yes! We include food as part of our quilting fun."

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "Underwear Fashion in Detail"

What used to be under is out...
What was out is in...
Following fashion is not for the faint of heart.

Re: Book Giveaway: "Threads Sewing Guide"

Threads sewing tips in one big collection? Great for me and perfect to share with fellow quilters and sewing friends.

Re: MAGAZINE GIVEAWAY: "Designer Techniques"

Clothing and costume design is a wonderland of visual and textural treats. Any field of endeavor which can simultaneously embrace the works of Chanel and Schiaparelli has to be filled with fun loving, wild-and-wacky, and creative people.

Re: MAGAZINE GIVEAWAY: Spring 2011 SewStylish

During the coldest winter months I pick up my crochet hook, now it is time to put that away and get back to my sewing machine to complete a dust cover for that machine and several pillow cases for charity. These will get me warmed up for the quilted back pack and purse for a competition that need to be completed on a tight time schedule. Then it's onto at least one art quilt before facing some UFOs in the late Spring. After such a productive season, is there a new sewing machine in my future? May be!

Re: Book Giveaway: "Horrockses Fashions: Off-the-Peg Style in the '40s and '50s"

The fabrics, the silhouettes, the flouncy, full skirts...Were theses the the fashions that drove men mad? Fascinating to admire, but I'm thankful that today we have more freedom at the waistline and above.

Re: How have you organized your stash?

I sew because I am...There is no better way to achieve an addictive state of FLOW.

Re: Repurposed Applique Tote

Linda,
I love your bag. I have made hundreds of "artisan" bags over the years and I always try to take good pictures of the outer features and at least one on the inside, too. I had to chuckle when I clicked on your snapshot of the inside of the bag, I thought to myself, "Did I post these photos?"
Thanks for the inspiration.

Re: Vionnet in Miniature

I loved these, but if anyone else posts pictures, please include a hand, spool of thread or bobbin to give us the full impact of half-size.
