Profile for LLaMona - Threads

Roanoke, VA, US

Learned to sew many, many years ago in Home Ec (that gives you a clue how long ago that was) as well as from my Grandmother. She was an excellent sewist! I sewed a lot when I first got married as we both were in college and did not have a lot of money. Advancing forward several years and I sew now for the sheer pleasure it provides as well as for better fitting clothes. It is also a stress reducer from a very demanding job.

Re: Spring Jacket

This is gorgeous!

Re: Book Giveaway and Free Pattern Downloads: "The Magic Pattern Book"

I have several sewing books. I love how each one is unique and offers some new tidbit of information to add to one's sewing skills. I would love to win this book to add to my collection and perhaps learn a new sewing technique as well.

Re: DVD GIVEAWAY: Industry Insider Techniques with Louise Cutting Volumes 1-4

I lived in Florida for several years and had the privilege of being able to travel to Louise's fabric store; I then relocated out of state for my work. I also had the opportunity to have her advise me on fit and adjusting patterns for a petite. I also attended one of her presentations during a Sewing Expo in Florida. It would be great to have her tips and techniques at my fingertips and having this DVD collection would certainly be a way to do that.

Re: And the Winner of Couture Sewing Techniques is...

Thank you very much. I look forward to receiving and reading this book!

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "Couture Sewing Techniques" by Claire B. Shaeffer

I know very little about couture techniques. This book would most definitely would add to my knowledge about various techniques. I do have an interest in pad stitching and bound buttonholes particularly. I have numerous Claire Schaeffer books and this would be a much desired addition.

Re: MAGAZINE GIVEAWAY: "Designer Techniques"

There are several designers that I like, but my all time favorite is CHANEL. I think her designs were classic and elegant.

Re: How to find the correct sleeve length

This was a very helpful tip/trick. I will have to give this a try. I understood clearly what was written along with the photos. Thanks for posting and sharing this.

Re: What sewing book do you turn to most often?

My go to book is really related to fitting which of course is necessary for a well sewn garment. The book is "Fit for Real People". For help with sewing, I have quite a few, but seem to go to Sandra Betzina's Power Sewing book.

Re: Mystery Sewing Machine Foot

I think Pattyv's idea may be on track. My first thought is that it is some type of attachment to allow one to do a zigzag stitch perhaps for seam finishing.

Re: Corsette and skirt

Interesting look. Love the colors.

Re: Tapestry and denim jacket

I love the pleasted neckline/collar. Interesting use of tapestry and denim

Re: Felt like Irises Blouse

I love the look of this top. I am amazed that it is felted work. Truly very attractive.

Re: Tribute to a Pastor's Wife

What a beautiful tribute to your pastor's wife. Truly a gorgeous jacket!

Re: Pink Suit

Great looking suit. Love the contrast and the bound buttonholes.
