Sewing - expression of my creativity - and teaching others is my passion and my career. Like so many, I learned from my Mom - and 'took over' in the 8th grade - to acquire my desired wardrobe on a very small clothing allowance! (I'd KILL to have some of those first garments I made back again - especially that first blazer - of wide wale burnt orange corduroy!) 1 semester of 'sewing' in Jr. High was my only 'training' until I majored in Home Economics in college. Even there - sadly, more time was spent in chemistry and microbiology than fashion and sewing labs - gee but I'm 'well-rounded'! Share that to come to the conclusion that most of my knowledge is self-taught by attending classes, seminars, weekends, expos, etc. Started dressmaking at the same time I worked in interior design. Sold fabrics from home for Leiters and House of Laird. After introduction to Heirloom sewing on a vacation - went to a Martha Pullen school - then launched my pattern line featuring heirloom sewing for women: Londa's Elegant Creations. Sept. 1990 found me opening my own retail storefront offering fashion dressmaking, fine fabrics, machines and classes. Ran for 13 years bringing in most of the national celebraties in sewing, and privileged to learn from them all. Lois and Diane Ericson and Marcy Tilton influenced me the most towards creative sewing. Closed shop due to family needs and to go global with website. That has led to the development of my niche of transforming a comfy sweatshirt into a stylish, well-fit jacket ala 'Creative Sweatshirt Jackets' that I teach at sewing expos, shops and guilds around the country under my business name, Londa's Creative Threads. I've developed a new patent-pending pattern process called 'Talking Patterns', have a private label book, and 3 DVD's.

I truly feel that this season's talent takes us back to the level - if not even above - that of the initial season.
Hanger appeal? Sew - if I had a store - a boutique, you bet your booties I'd put her garments on a mannequin and they'd sell - sell - sell!
