Re: Color Correction

Wow, you mean just adding several colors at once isn't a good idea? Who knew? This article is so general that it is fairly useless.

Re: Sewing UFOs

Yes, mine is a princess seamed dress that was too big and I just can't seem to get up the steam to fix it.

Re: From Botch Job to Beautiful in an Afternoon!

Cannot say that I like the very deep armholes, but it is an inspiration to re-purpose other items.

Re: Thinking ahead to fall

The first one is only for people who are pencil thin and above average in height. It will be frightful on anyone else. The second is not for those with broad shoulders. The third is is so-so. The fourth draws attention to the hips, so they had better be worth looking at.

Re: Book Giveaway: "Threads Sewing Guide"

It might allow me to toss some of my other books.

Re: A Nice Little Suit

The skirt is for the very svelte. No one else would ever want that much attention drawn to their tummy. Interesting touches, for sure, but way over-done. If one were anorexic, it would help to disguise that fact.

Lovely touches in the jacket, which is quite charming.

Re: Sewing with creative materials

Wild idea? Yes. Sophisticated? Elegant? Wearable? Not so much. I was hoping for something else.

Frankly, my wish is that Threads could hire a consultant to improve their color coordination. It is so very rare to find elegance in the magazine. Technique? Yes. But I would not be caught dead in most of the finished products - garishness reigns.

Re: Book Giveaway: "1,000 Clever Sewing Shortcuts & Tips"

I cut the selvage edge from silk or fine cotton fabrics to use as stay tape. I keep them in zip lock bags. Saves time, money and is "green" because you are using what already exists. I am not sure where I learned it.

Re: Project Runway Season 7 Opening Night

Most of those fashions are terribly ugly and graceless. Hermanovski and Henderson's are especially so. Yes, Sario, every woman wants big bows on her tummy, derriere, and hips! Let's accent what most of us wish to downplay.
Peters and Sosa get my vote.

Please, please consider clothes that actual professional women over 50 would wear to work, or even for cocktails. What a breath of fresh air that would be.

The rest of this stuff is for college-age women.
