Re: Quick Cuts for Applique and Quilting

I think this tool would be great for cutting out fabric for "yo-yo's". I believe this(AccuQuilt Go) will be my next new 'toy'. Where can they be purchased in Canada?

Re: Book Giveaway: "Threads Sewing Guide"

I would love to have this book for two young girls that I have been teaching to sew. Both girls 8 and 11 hand sew and have been wanting to learn on a machine, the foot pedal for their Mum's machine was accidentally left behind when they moved to this province, so I have begun to show them the ropes of sewing.

Our first session consisted of sewing seams and we constructed a peasant-style top, perhaps a little ambitious on my part but the ladies enjoyed the experience, I did the finishing.
For our next session we are going to be constructing a simple panel bag with quilting on the face of the bag.

I think it would be great for these girls to have a reference for when we are not together sewing as they live in a rural town and I live in the city. It would be great to see and hear about how their imagination has spurred them to construct something really cool and that they had this great book as a cross-reference.

Re: Create a Swirled Bias Sleeve

I like this idea, my friend gave me a blouse, but the biceps or should I say my biceps are bigger than the sleeve circumference. I've been looking for a way to re-vamp them.
thanx again.

Re: Book Giveaway: "Embroidery Companion: Classic Designs for Modern Living" by Alicia Paulson

please excuse my typo. the first word in the sentence should be 'My' not 'y'.

Re: Book Giveaway: "Embroidery Companion: Classic Designs for Modern Living" by Alicia Paulson

y favorite is cross-stitch on waste canvas, I have yet to try it on my sewing machine. I really enjoy stitching by hand, my favorite piece was a gecko on a tree branch.
I embroidered a picture (I drew) onto a child's jacket, then I pull away the waste canvas with the design left behind. I like to blend the colours as if I am painting a picture.

The end result is most satisfying, the person I sold the jacket to enjoyed it as well.

Re: The Felted Wool Sweater--Updated

what does the finished garment look like???

Re: Have you ever been plagued with a fitting problem?

I made a garment for someone and after I had placed the lining in the bodice and finished it( a dress) the recipient said it was tight in the underarms.
I had made a sloper and adjusted the pattern to fit the person, and it still didn't turn out great. I'm unsure what I did incorrectly?

Re: Add style and flair with pleats

Re: Simplicity Pattern Collection from Threads

hi i am looking for free apron patterns,or available pictures, the type of design i want to sew is the kind or mum's may have worn, that almost look like a dress. thanks

Re: Simplicity Pattern Collection from Threads

hi doodle 78, i have mixed different fabrics in a quilt, i generally try to keep them in the same fabric content, or i pre-wash all my fabric so that i can wash the sewn item later, unless it isn't a garment or a blanket and is just something to be admired. hope this info is helpful.

Re: Mystery Sewing Machine Foot

I think it's a gathering foot, my mum's Brother sewing machine has a similar attachment.
