I was a clothing and textiles major back in the 60's when we underlined everything, bound buttonholes were de riqour, interfacings were hair canvas. I was a stay at home Mom for 15 years, and during that time I taught sewing classes including tailoring. When ready to return to the workforce, I got another degree in computer science and worked in IT. My sewing then became fast and simple, no time for tailoring or complicated fitting. I have recently retired and began enjoying 'slow sewing' again. I have also begun teaching sewing classes at a local fabric store and for our school district's continuing education department. I guess I have come full circle and I love it.

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "Couture Sewing Techniques" by Claire B. Shaeffer
I am interested in making elegant linings, especially when there is no lining included in the pattern. I also would like help with getting that French fit.

It is stunning. The fit is definitely an improvement over the original pattern. Is the fabric very soft? If I remember Susan's article on the Chanel jacket, she recommends a very soft tweed. I have a beautiful silk tweed I would like to use but it is not soft. Do you think it would work?
