Re: 'Project Accessory' Begins Casting Soon
Love accessories - the cherry on top of the sundae, the perfect final touch! And such fun to make, design, create - so this should be a fun show. So glad to see more sewing shows...wish there were more!

I usually stay with colors that flatter me since I'm very fair and can't wear those luscious deep purples and fushias. I try to find fabric with maybe a touch of those colors and try to keep them away from my face for the most flattering look. I love lots of colors I can't wear so I have a purple billfold, a bright pink purse - try to enjoy those colors in accessories (shoes)etc. Although it can be depressing when I want to shop for something ready to wear and the whole store is nothing in my color! That's one reason I sew!!

Love these two decades, find the unique seams so interesting in many of the 40's garments. I often volunteer to do costuming for local community theatres/schools and love making period clothing! This book looks like a real treat!

Love those vintage designs! I do some costuming for community theatre as one of my sewing interests and I, too, love those 40's! They often have so many interesting seamlines, probably because they had little fabric during the war and had to piece things together! Out of necessity comes wonderful design! It's so much fun to research the era of a show when making a costume - and on low (or none) community theatre budgets, so nice to use new techniques to get away with murder on stage sometimes! I've even made buttons from bottle caps - close your couture ears, Susan! I have many vintage gloves, shoes etc. decorating shelves in my sewing room, and what a treat to see the details on authentic pieces! Thanks for sharing, Susan, you are right up my alley and I love all your tips and couture techniques! I always look forward to an article in Threads from you!

Kenneth is such an inspiration! Reminds me of my days in the 60's and 70's of doing macrame belts - wonder what ever happened to those books and patterns?!? Can't wait to try this!

The Trouble With Angels when Rachel tries to sew a dress, all through the night and the Reverend Mother (Rosalind Russell) finds her and they both know the dress is a mess. The Reverend Mother helps her fix the dress and it wins a prize the next day...but the Reverend Mother knows Rachel would like to donate the prize to the convent but insists Rachel "keep the lovely box of threads for yourself." Haven't we all had one of those all-nighters where nothing went right and the garment was atrocious!

Love my serger, don't know what I'd do without it! It's always great to find resources for this mysterious machine; I always love tips and insight into learning how to get the stitch correct for the type of fabric, etc. Using various threads and being able to create trims with the serger has been inspirational, but there's always something new to learn! My serger is an older one so it's not always easy to thread, so my own tip is when I HAVE to rethread it (instead of tying on the new thread and pulling it through), pour a glass of wine, play some soothing music and pray!

Kenneth King is just the most clever guy - this is great! Can't wait to try it!

Finally! I've been saying the same thing since the very first episode years ago! I have always complained (to the TV since my hubby is always asleep!) that we never get a good look at the garment on the runway - Thank you for bringing that to the forefront! I've actually paused my DVR and played it in slow-mo just to try to see some things!
posted: 7:00 pm on October 5thI also loved Louise - I, too, love vintage; thought she had promise in the beginning, but thought she was going downhill fast - the ruffles were a disaster!
I enjoy the judges' comments, but of course that's totally subjective, so I agree sometimes & disagree sometimes. I've seen some of Michael Kors designs and have often thought, what was he thinking!? I like the weird challenges because I'm intrigued by the designer's creativity - or lack thereof!
I've been to Mood many times and heaven help them if they don't know what they're looking for - so much in the NYC store that you often need someone to help you get the bolt out of the stack! I understand the LA store is much smaller. I prefer the NYC setting - I hope they go back there and don't stay in LA - did the location switch because the network changed?
