Re: Host a Sewing Party

Hey this is a great idea. Matter of fact I host a sewing party, known as "The Funny Farm Sew-In". We typically have the sew-in every few months or maybe every quarter. I invite my sewing friends, and non-sewing as well, we eat a wonderful dinner prepared by my husband and drink wine then go to the sewing studio & sew, knit, embroider and sew more until folks decide it is time to go home.
These prove to be very helpful and outrageous fun to boot! We take a brief break for dessert (everyone brings one dessert to get pass the husband at the front door) and get back to our sewing. Each session I try to plan a 'make-it & you take-it project sew we can do new techniques; but nothing formal; that would ruin our 'free nite out sewing'.

I encourage folks who have the room and time to do one of these and you will be surprised at the results. Of course take pics of your projects too.

Sewfunnytroy . . . who keeps the sewing FUN

Re: Book Giveaway: "Horrockses Fashions: Off-the-Peg Style in the '40s and '50s"

This looks like a great read, warm tea in the bed with PJ's on & reading this makes me want to sew all the more . . . . .

I just finished reading a book based on the roaring 1920's & the fashion is so flattering; this book makes me want to try out the fashions listed and attempt some of the techniques.

I am keeping my threads crossed that I win!

Re: Silk Lotus Flower

Something so very simple, can look so very Gorgeous. Kenneth is wonderful. You will make Martha look like the hired help! Go for it!

Re: Teach Yourself to Sew: How to Install a Zipper

This was extremely helpful; I especially love the method used with the steam-a-seam to help with stabilization of the zipper before it goes in the seam. I have very flimsy fabric & this will make it much more easier to install the zipper.
