Been reading Threads for more years than I can remember. I love this magazine. Sewing since age 6. Like tailoring. Made skating costumes for men. Love to sew for myself. Sewed my own wedding dress. Just finished altar cloths for a local Temple. Made all the draperies in my home. Currently trying to reupholster a couch, this is daunting.

This looks just like what I need. So often the fabric store does not have the bias I need - or does the manufacturer make it. I would never have to search for the right color/fabric match anymore - I would just make it myself.

I use a singer 301A slant needle, circa 1948? It is not a ruffler or a pleating foot. It zig zags and sews ric rac or elastic onto fabric.
