Puppets!

I collect vintage toys.  I get excited when I get hired to make anything that justifies having a box full of Barbies.  I was asked to make puppets and I went wild.  I made the patterns...

Lady Ga Ga inspired jacket

I was asked to design and build this for a tv show.  I had two days to make it happen.  It was sewn with my Juki walking foot, for the thinner vinyl piping I used a home machine with a...

Fast food at the MOCA

I couldn't find polyester in the colors I wanted.  I used super spandex on the matte side. I drafted the patterns but it was a basic T-shirt pattern that was color blocked and simple...

Gloves

This is part of a showgirl out fit I designed.  I made the patterns and mixed foil spandex with satin spandex. I used the same fabric for the bustier.  Added bugle beads, seed beads and...

Re: Project Runway All Stars: "Finale Part 1"

Mondo was a little too moody for me. Loved his ink blot dress and the burnout velvet dress.

Austin is great but I am not sure about the pants with the massive hip pleats.

Wasn't in the mood to watch Mondo's meltdown wanted to see fashion.

Re: Project Runway All Stars: "The Business of Fashion"

Michael should have gone home. It reminded me of the Versace dress Jennifer Lopez wore to the Grammys. I think Rami should have been in the final three. I am not a Kenley or Michael fan.
I have to say I enjoy watching the All stars over the last two seasons.

Re: Project Runway All Stars: "When I Get My Dress in Lights"

I wish the final three were Austin, Mondo and Rami. Austin's dress reminded me of a Bob Mackie Barbie design. It's looked beautiful on the runway. I have seen a few "Iconic" costumes up close and they all look a little rough but on stage they are another story.
I liked Jerrell he made me laugh.

Re: Project Runway All Stars: "O! Say, Can You Sew?"

I am losing interest. Maybe the show is running out of ideas.

Re: Project Runway All Stars: "Puttin' on the Glitz"

Mondo made a great outfit. I loved the way it moved down the runway. The fabric was interesting. I thought the girls made ugly pieces.

Re: Project Runway All Stars: "Clothes Off Your Back"

I was glad Mondo won. I also liked Mila's pants. Kara Janx is too needy when ever she gets screen time I cringe. I agree Michael's theatrics are annoying. The best thing on that show are the Tom Ford Sunglasses on the Neiman Marcus wall.

Re: Project Runway All Stars: "Good Taste Tastes Good"

Mondo has to kick some butt in the next few weeks. I can't stand watching him lose.
I wanted Kara to get sent home her dress looked like vomit over cayenne and chocolate gelato. The fit was not flattering and the edges were nasty.
I am not a Micheal fan, his phony reactions and that awful belted bed sheet.

I do prefer 24 hour cat walk, the sewers are the show not the designers.

Re: Project Runway All Stars: "Patternmaking for Piggy"

I loved Rami's dress! I really hated a puppet for a judge. I also hated the designers acting like the puppet was real. Who's next designing for Santa Claus?
As far as the dresses. Gordana had to leave, I did like what she made BUT she didn't listen. Maybe if she did listen to people she would be busy with real clients and stop being on reality TV.
I think the final three will be male.

Re: Project Runway All Stars: "A Night at the Opera"

I loved Mondo's dress. Michael Costello and Gordana made dresses for the AVN awards not the opera. I do think the last three designers will be male. The females are weak.

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "Roberto Capucci Art Into Fashion"

If I don't win this book I hope my library has it. So far most of the sewing books are from the 70's and super crafty. Not my style. This book looks fantastic.

Re: Project Runway 9: "Finale - Part 2"

I didn't like this season. I thought Viktor would win but he sabotaged himself with the sheers. To me it's like being a cooking contest and serving flavored ice cubes.

Re: Project Runway 9: "Finale Challenge"

I was bored this season. I am excited about Chris March Mad Fashion on Bravo.

Re: Project Runway 9: "This is For the Birds"

I was sorry to see Bert go. I am not a Laura fan the fit on the leggings was a little wrinkled, the jacket looked like a costume.
Anya is a threat to some of the designers because she has a vision and they have skills. I don't know how I would deal with her if I were in their place.
I think the designer blogs are the PR site are dull because the designers are dull.
Josh is filled with hate he should grow up and stop blaming everyone for his problems.

Re: No Halstons Here: Project Runway Episode 10 is "Sew '70s"

I think Joshua should have been sent home. I wanted a three way tie with Anya, Bert and Viktor.
I am waiting for Laura Kathleen and Kimberly to get their walking papers.

Re: Gloves

Thank you!

Re: Project Runway 9: "The Art of the Matter"

Project Glue Gun. This season is really bad. Used to be my favorite show. I am hoping the challenges will get better or the designers will make something inspiring.

Re: Project Runway 9: "Off the Track"

I can't believe how mean this season is. Gossiping back stabbing and cliques. This is not the drama I want to see on Project Runway.
I have seen Anya's "famous" back on another challenge. Maybe I am bored with her vision, lack of skill and placing high.

I didn't like any of the outfits. Also hate watching them running around the track to be a team leader. Just so gimmicky. Why did everyone have bland color pallets. I could go on but I don't want to get bummed out again. BOOOOOOO

Re: Project Runway 9: "All About Nina"

I am not a fan of this season. I hate the challenges, the show is too long. I miss Santino, Andrae and Wendy Pepper.

Re: Project Runway 9: "Go Big or Go Home"

This was a horrible challenge. Nothing looked chic. Looked like a new wave circus hit town.
Bryce should be ashamed of himself, he acted like a baby and he made an ugly skirt. Last weeks attempt was awful as well.

Re: Project Runway 9: Come As You Are

Bert was not good in the pet store challenge, he seemed lazy and wanted to bask in his immunity. I was bored with the sheath silhouette that most of designers were picking. The dog food bag outfit was the most original.
Last nights show was not inspiring.

Re: Project Runway 9: Come As You Are

I love Bert. I just want him to do well and not get eaten alive. Anya is interesting I want to see how she tackles the other challenges.
This season will be interesting.

Re: Lady Ga Ga inspired jacket

Thanks, I found them last minute at the cash as I was about to leave the store.

It fit the actor better than it's fitting the model in the photo.

Re: Silk Bra-Cup Corset

I LOVE this!

Re: 2011 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashions

They are all boring. I like that people are moving away from black. It's not enough.

Re: What sewing topics would you like to read about in Threads?

More couture secrets, mens tailoring, machine tips. Tips for difficult fabrics. I am open to learning everything.

Re: Book Giveaway: "1,000 Clever Sewing Shortcuts & Tips"

I use chapstick on sticky vinyl. The pressure foot doesn't drag and the residue can be wiped away.
