Re: Bad Sewing Habits

I think one of my bad habits is rushing. Once I get a project cut out then I want to stay up all night to see the finished product sometimes I am so tired that I make mistakes that I don't see until the next day. But I am getting better with that. I don't always read the pattern instructions first It always takes a mistake to lead me back to the pattern instructions.
One of my worst bad habits is eating cookies while I sew. LOL And that is a habit that is hard to break.

Re: Project Runway 9: "Image is Everything"

Can't wait til next season.

Re: Green Bag

This bag is fabulous! You did a very wonderful bag, I can see the love that you put into it. And as Josefly says: "Don't you love it when you can use those treasures you've stumbled upon?"
Sometimes we buy stuff and we don't know why we buy it, but then it all comes together in the end product. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Project Runway Episode 7: "Can't We Just All Get Along?"

I love the idea of project seamstress. There is too too much drama on PR. I am so disappointed. I would like to see the focus on the creative process also. I do the same, I don't look at the drama, I look at the end and see what the fashion show is like. It is obvious that Anya is already the winner. No one has said it any better than Spiewaks. " I'm convinced that some of them are gluing their garments. They can't possibly be able to turn out couture garments in 3, 6 or 12 hours. If they can, then couture doesn't mean what I thought it did. Bring on Project Seamstress!!"

Re: Project Runway 9: "Off the Track"

I agree with everything sews4fun said. I don't need to add anything to what she said. She said it all.

Re: Yasmine Inspired

Very nice.

Re: One Yard Wonder

I love the fabric. It is so pretty. And you made a pretty skirt out of it.

Re: Project Runway 9: "All About Nina"

I am not too impressed with this season's PR either. I think the judges are insensitive and childish with their comments. It seems they get such satisfaction from tearing down the designer's esteem. Michael Kors is such a jerk. I have been sewing for a long time and I would not waste my time going on a show just to hear someone like MK talk about it and tear it down. All he ever wears is black. You can tell he couldn't take the criticism that he dishes out. I don't think that he needs to belittle the designs that he doesn't like. I think they pick designers to go on the show that they know they are not going to like so that they can bash them.

Re: Ms. Pooh's Designers International Afrocentric Line

I love the green mudcloth. These are so nice.

Re: Claire's raincoat

Very nice.

Re: Ms. Pooh's Designers International Tradition Quilt

That is a great story. I love to quilt. I have 17 grandchildren and I plan to create a quilt for each one of them,

Re: CATHEDRAL WINDOW JACKET

than is beautiful. I never thought to make a jacket out of CW.

Re: Circular Vest

I tried this also. Mine did not come out as cute, I will try again. These are very cute.

Re: fancy fabric challenge

Wow I love it.

Re: Cocktail dress in black

I love it. You did a very good job.

Re: Prom dress original

Beautiful, the workmanship is very good. I also love the color.

Re: Mark a Dart and Learn a No-Tie Finish

I was already clipping and pinning but I like the needle thread part. I will use this method from now on. Thanks

Re: Project Runway Episode 9 -- Let the sequins fly!

I was cheering for Shirin, I am soooooo disappointed. All the good designers are gone, they have voted them off. The only one I like now is Gordana. I agree with Kate W. I am bored with it now. I guess I will watch the Practice on ABC this Thursday night.

Re: Dixie's Pics

Very pretty and creative.

Re: Project Runway Episode 7 - Blue for You

I think the runway show is too short also. Sometimes you don't get to see all of the dresses. I felt that the shirt dress was a timeless and beautiful piece. I wish they showed more of the other designers. And I would like to see more of the creative process. I would love to have one of those machines. I think that Epperson is a sleeper. They don't show him much, and when they show his designs they just skim over them. They also don't show much of his creative process. I think he might sneak up on them and win this. That is if it is not rigged and they already know who they want to win. And if they have already decided on who the winner is, the show is not as good as I thought.

Re: Wristlet Purses using recycled fabrics

So cute. I love the idea.

Re: What's Your Favorite Non-standard Sewing Machine Foot?

I love my walking foot, I use it for almost everything I sew. I also love to use my open toe foot when I am doing machine applique or zigzag. Last month I purchased a ruffling foot, I have not created anything with it yet, but I have played around with it. I think once I get the hang of how it works and I use it in a project I sure it will be my next favorite foot.

Re: One Block Wonder Fun

So pretty.

Re: Project Runway, Episode 6 Goes to the Movies

"The one person in the whole competition who didn’t get to choose his genre was Epperson—they loved his work—why didn’t they choose him? With constantly revolving judges, I don’t think they have the opportunity to see the body of work the designers have presented. I think previous work should be considered when they look at each new entry. What do you think?" I was wondering the same thing! I love Epperson's designs, and I truly feel that he should have won this one. And I think that if Nina and Michael had been there he would have. I also felt bad for Ra'Mon. But I really think that if Ra'Mon had stuck with the jumpsuit and worked that, he would still be there. I could just see where he was trying to go with that jumpsuit, but when it did not come out the way he envisioned it, he panicked. I wish he would have stayed with it. I would have put a little tight skirt on top of it. And went all the way there with it. I love all these designers.

Re: What provides your greatest sewing inspiration?

Sewing for me was my sanity when I was younger and married to my first husband and had 4 kids.
After my divorce I sewed to support myself, even then I loved sewing, although I did not get much chance to just sew for fun so I collected fabrics and notions, and equipment.
Now I am remarried and sewing just what I want to sew.
Fabric is my inspiration, I love mixing fabrics with different textures and colors into one garment. I love seeing a garment blossom with bright colors and texture. Looking outside and seeing all the beautiful colors and designs that God has to offer is my biggest inspiration, bringing those color combinations into the sewing studio is always a challenge but it is so much fun to do.
I have such a large stash of fabrics and I am trying to use up as much as I can. But it is so hard to stay out of the fabric store. Every time I go to the fabric store, I find another piece of fabric that I can't live without.

Re: Project Runway 5th Episode - Make it Work

I liked the trench coat and I also liked Epperson's design. I actually liked all the designs. I think all these designers are good. They each have their own style and each style is unique. The one dress that I really, really, really didn't like was Ra Mon's maternity thing, that was so ugly and I was surprised that he did that because the rest of his designs were so nice. I love Epperson's designs, I would wear them.

Re: Threads Techniques

Very nice. I used the same technique on a dress. I had so much fun doing it. This is really cute.

Re: Needle Felted Swirly Jacket

I have also used that technique of layering the buttons to get the look I want. When I looked at the collar close up I can see the process you went through to put this jacket together. It is a work of art.

Re: Needle Felted Swirly Jacket

A beautiful jacket. I love the fabric. Sometimes it takes me a couple of years to use a piece of fabric. I have to make sure I have all the special items I need to complement it. You did a good job and how blessed you are to be able to really travel and find those wonderful fabrics. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Re: Gold Rush

Oh I had trouble uploading a photo, I photographed the item again using a lower resolution on my camera and it worked. It might work for you.

Re: Gold Rush

wow, I really like this piece. The skirt is just beautiful and I love the process that you used. I love building a garment and it seems that is what you did. So beautiful.

Very nice work. This is a beautiful jacket. Love it.
